Independent Living at Brakendon Close
Our Brakendon Close complex comprises of 51 single or double occupancy flats and bungalows, finished to the highest standards. It is designed to provide for persons of pensionable age, who are physically capable of leading an independent life but would enjoy being part of a community and the security provided by our 24-hour Social Alarms Service, supported by our Scheme Managers during normal working hours (8am-4pm).
Brakendon Close provides homes for older people in a caring environment while recognising the individual rights, privacy, dignity and independence of its tenants.

What’s available at Brakendon Close?
Activities
Our tenant-led Entertainments Committee meets monthly to discuss new ideas for activities, events and trips. These are arranged for interest and enjoyment although there is no compulsion to take part.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE:
- Monday: Seated Exercise with EPIC Norfolk.
- Tuesday: Boccia or Tabletop Curling.
- Wednesday: Knit & Natter.
- Thursday AM: Coffee Morning
- Thursday PM: Carpet Bowls
- Saturday: Coffee & Cake Afternoon.
OTHER ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS:
Holy Communion and Bible Study are both held once a month on a Monday, and Songs of Praise sessions are held on a regular basis, usually monthly. These are strictly optional and we welcome all faiths or none at Brakendon Close.
We also regularly hold film afternoons, quizzes, singalong sessions, bingo and fish and chip lunches. Seasonal get-togethers and tasting sessions - for example, pancake lunch, Burns Night, and pate & fizz tasting - are always popular.
Tenants may visit our neighbouring site, Corton House care home, in limited numbers to join in with poetry and art appreciation groups. We also offer a monthly book club.
There are also occasional outings to beaches, restaurants, museums and other places of interest.
Most activities and events take part in our communal lounge, the Blake Lounge, where you can also find a kitchen area, television, puzzle table, piano and library.

Food
Each property in Brakendon Close has a kitchen for you to cook your own meals.
On weekday lunchtimes, we offer a delicious one or two course meal which is cooked and delivered from the kitchens in our neighbouring care home for a small additional fee.
We can also provide details of a range of external meal providers and delivery services upon request.
Our Scheme Managers organise regular Fish & Chip Lunches, Bring & Share Buffets and tasting sessions.
Facilities
All our Brakendon Close residents can lead as independent and private lives as they fancy. Within Brakendon Close we have a number of different housing options including bungalows and flats. Each property benefits from its own front door, kitchen, living room, bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
The site has beautiful recently landscaped gardens, including a summer house and various patios and raised beds, with accessible paving throughout.
There is parking for cars, bikes and mobility scooters.
The Blake Lounge is our communal lounge, with kitchen area, library, puzzles and television. This area is used for the majority of social events and activities.
There is a post box on site.
There are two laundrys equipped with washers and dryers.

Chaplaincy
Brakendon Close welcomes people of all faiths and none.
A worship service is held on a regular basis, with Holy Communion on the first Friday of every month.

Brakendon Close is ideally located close to the city centre of Norwich, convenient for both the train and bus stations and within easy reach of the A47.
Just off Bracondale, City Road is a largely residential street although it has a number of shops and services close at hand.
